Architects and Engineers in Canbury
Contemporary architecture and engineering for Victorian and Edwardian riverside homes in Canbury, from first feasibility to a finished project.
Living and Building in Canbury
Canbury takes its name from an ancient riverside estate recorded as far back as the 1740s, and today the Riverside North conservation area protects its linear stretch of Victorian and Edwardian houses set along the Thames.
Diagram X brings genuinely modern AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) to a riverside setting where 19th-century public works transformed former grazing land and gravel pits into the much-loved Canbury Gardens, opened in 1890.
Planning in Canbury
The Riverside North conservation area protects Canbury's mature riverside landscape, its ancient estate origins, and its group of large Victorian and Edwardian houses, with any new work assessed against this particular linear waterside character.
Diagram X designs each scheme to respect the river frontage and verdant setting that define Canbury's identity.
Refurbishing in Canbury
Behind Victorian and Edwardian riverside facades,
Diagram X strips back dated, compartmentalised layouts in favour of open, minimalist interiors with honest materials and broad glazing that make the most of the Thames-side setting. The historic frontage stays untouched, while the space behind it becomes something unmistakably contemporary.
Construction in Canbury
Riverside flood considerations, conservation area restrictions, and mature tree protection demand careful sequencing on nearly every scheme here.
Diagram X runs structural engineering, waterproofing, and site logistics as one coordinated process, protecting historic character while new space takes shape behind it.
